I think it's pretty clear that I'm really not using this journal anymore. Therefore, this is an official sticky note to say that I will no longer be updating this journal, nor using it to keep in touch with anyone else.
All of the stories that are currently here will stay posted and available. If you're interested in seeing anything new from me, please come find me on my livejournal.

I have come up with a masterful solution to my grief at editing my story for ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) spn_j2_bigbang.
BANTER
No, really! It solves so many problems! For example:
- Transition scenes? Add banter to make it less dull
- Background info? Use banter to break up the delivery
- Character development? Banter on top of banter
- Random encounter? Banter is a completely appropriate attack option
- Angst? ... okay, probably not so helpful here
- Sex scenes? Are probably good to go, but there's always room for banter between the sheets (or against the wall, or in the shower, etc etc)
It's actually working surprisingly well. At least for the sections that I'm working on right now. ...It is possible that my story is going to involve a lot of snark. I'm sure everyone is shocked.

So as if the xkcd comic wasn't bad enough, I was typing in student emails for the first year Latin class I'm TAing and someone has the year 1991 in her email address. It was quite a shock to realize that, yes, someone who is twenty would have been born in 1991. *boggles*
I'm too young to be feeling old! What the hell am I going to do when I'm, like, 70?

Right, well, today has been kinda shitty so far, so I need something to distract me. How about some ficbits?
I have a shiny new Master Fic List at the top of my journal (all: ooh!). So you have two options! Give me the title of an existing work (or verse) of mine and ask for either a) a scene from an alternate point of view (i.e. Cid's POV on meeting Cloud in Blood Brothers etc etc) or 2) a timestamp that you can prompt in five words or less.
I've got no idea who reads this thing these days, so let's say a max of ten people and see what happens.

Happy New Year all! I hope it was enjoyable for everyone!
So the first order of business is a great big thank you to Kleenexwoman for writing to my prompt for Sara Bareilles' song Fairytales. Her fantastic story, Fairytales, figures the various princesses as participants in a reality show and looks at the darker side of the happily ever after that each of them was hoping to get. She neatly intertwines the original fairy tales, the song lyrics and her own unique spin on their stories into a whole that is bittersweet but ultimately lovely. This is really clever.
I was at once more and less productive than usual this year. I only wrote my main assignment, since I somehow managed to be both incredibly busy and a major slacker this Christmas season, but it's definitely the longest thing I've ever written in such a short time. It probably could have been easily twice the length if I'd left myself enough time to get really into it, but overall I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. This was a great opportunity to a) challenge myself to write in the first person and b) be as sarcastic as humanly possible. I also got to use my fairy encylopedia as a research tool which is always a bonus in my book.

Yuletide is done and posted! *pumps fist* I may take advantage of the edit option to make a couple small changes between now and Christmas (and I probably want to look at the tagging options because right now I'm only using the character ones), but other than that I am totally on top of things this year (a whole day early! This is a big deal for me guys!).

For those who don't know them, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are super hot the actors who play Dean and Sam Winchester on the CW's Supernatural. This is an AU, so you really don't need to know much more about them than that to read (though as an FYI, I love them for their banter and general awesomeness. This has nothing to do with anything, but I think it's pretty fun. Incidentally? One of these idiots is my little brother - a friend of theirs is in India right now and misses being able to eat bagels so he asked for a video of Lou eating a bagel. He got this instead.
And in slightly more topical news, the newest issue of ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/syndicated.gif) bb_shousetsu is now available! (My contribution is mostly ridiculous, but at least it was fun to write). I haven't made my way through the entire issue yet, but I've noticed that there's a lot fewer comments on the stories than usual - if you like anything, please take the time to let the writers know!

Saw Inception the other day. It was pretty epic. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie that actually encouraged the amount of debate that I've been having with other people who've seen it. And nobody's really wrong because there isn't actually a right answer, which is thematic and clever and not a little bit irritating. In a grudgingly admirable way, of course.
Although now I totally want to write some Eames/Arthur slash.
Also, does anyone else think that Cillian Murphy looks kind of like a shorter version of Tom Welling?
This time next month I (better as hell) will have a completed thesis! All I need to do is finish the damn thing. *dies* Anybody want to do it for me? 110 pages and counting!
